To relax, heal or invigorate

Release, Relax, Unwind

BACKGROUND

& PHILOSOPHY

I have been trained at both the famous City Lit and at the London School of Massage. My main course was overseen by the very stringent City & Guilds educational body. I'm lucky to have found an occupation I love and proud that this shows in my ability to give each and every client a massage which addresses the reasons they booked but always tries to go one step further.

I'm a member of the CThA (Complementary Therapists Association) and am fully insured. My training included many aspects of health and safety, including hygiene and cleanliness. It also dealt with privacy, comfort and care - as everyone's situations and cultures differ.

I'm passionate about massage used as a therapy for body, mind and soul. The power of touch is an amazing thing. It can be calming, healing or help you feel more connected with yourself. That is why this therapy is called "holistic". It deals with and helps the whole picture.

Not everyone that visits me comes with aching muscles or knots... some have stressful lives and need a relaxing moment in their otherwise hectic day... others book for a well earned treat that's just for them, good for the soul.

ABOUT THE TREATMENTS

SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish massage is the most common type of massage in the West and the one most are familiar with. It's the foundation for other forms of Western massage, including sports, deep tissue and aromatherapy massage.

Swedish massage can be slow and gentle, or vigorous and energising, all depending on what you would like to achieve from the treatment.  There are a number of different strokes in Swedish Massage. They warm up the muscle tissue, release tension and then break up knots in the muscles or adhesions in the body tissue.

If you are new to massage or you don't have the therapy often, Swedish massage is the best one to start with.

Available in North London OR at TheLodge.Space

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and the connective tissue around. It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as the upper back, a stiff neck, low back pain, leg muscle tightness or sore shoulders.

Deep tissue massage is more than just a massage with deep pressure. The goals and the techniques are quite different.

This style of massage can often feel uncomfortable.  If you're looking for a more relaxing massage ask about Swedish or a fusion of the two.

Available in North London OR at TheLodge.Space

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Pregnancy massage is a relaxing treatment for the different stages of pregnancy from the second trimester onwards.

Lying on her side the client (and her bump) is supported with pillows, blankets and towels. Not only is it a highly relaxing treatment, it also helps to alleviate issues such as backaches and swelling.

Pregnancy massage stimulates the circulation and aids distribution of essential nutrients and fluids to the major organs of the body including the placenta. It can help release muscular tension in the upper back, shoulders, lower back and hips and aids in reducing any emotional stress and anxiety that the mother is feeling at this time of change.

Only available as an outcall in North London or at TheLodge.Space

HOT STONE MASSAGE

Unlike, the Spa version of Hot Stone Massage where hot stones are laid upon the body, my Hot Stone treatments incorporate the heated pebble shaped basalt stones into the actual massage strokes from the very start.

Held in my hand whilst massaging, the hot stones add a warmth to the already relaxing strokes of a Swedish massage and increase the effectiveness of a Deep Tissue massage, used as a tool to work further into the muscle fibres.

Currently, only available at TheLodge.Space

REVIEW - THE WHARF  FEBRUARY 2018

Deep tissue massage gets to the root of good therapy

While deep tissue massage may be a more traditional therapy, Steven Smallwood made his session a memorable experience with his upbeat nature and attention to detail.

The Lodge Space has two treatment rooms in its lower ground floor and they back on to the park, avoiding any sounds from the road.

You may hear the occasional voice from the Pilates studios next door but Steven let me choose the kind of music I wanted to listen to (something wordless) to help muffle the background noise.

He also checked the temperature in the room was comfortable and made a discreet exit so I could slide between the towels.

Apparently I have very flexible feet but he still propped a towel under my ankles to relieve the pressure.  To my delight he even tucked me in like a toddler so my arms could relax without falling off the sides of the couch, making me feel like a beached sea lion.

The massage itself was verging on painful, as a good deep tissue should be.  But Steven also cradled my head with the gentleness of a parent so he could massage away the knots in my neck.

Sadly my arms and hands missed out on the action, but this didn’t stop me feeling like warm jelly by the end of the 50-minute treatment.

I emerged, languidly, reportedly looking very much like a happy sloth.

Essential Oils and dōTERRA

It's more than Aromatherapy

I find essential oils and their uses fascinating.  Harnessing the powers of plants to survive and thrive is such a holistic thing. With the exceptionally pure oils from dōTERRA you can get their benefits not only from applying to skin or inhaling but also by ingesting.

Search the web for real stories and tips on how others use dōTERRA oils in their lives.
